Re: National Legal Professional Associates

Dear Mr. Boler:

I respond to your letter, dated June 17, 2001. I have been acquainted with National Legal Professional Associates since about 1997 and have handled cases in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey that they have referred to me. In my first case, United States v. Robert Campbell, we successfully filed a post-conviction petition and succeeded in having the United States District Court correct an improper sentence. NLPA greatly assisted this effort by doing the research and providing additional materials that were critical in preparing the petition and arguing the case.

More recently, I represented a defendant at sentencing in Superior Court in Gloucester County who was dissatisfied with the counsel who had negotiated his plea agreement. [State v. Keen au Victor] With NLPA’s help, I was able to raise several new issues and bringing several new arguments before the court.

During the past few years. we have also received at least ten other contacts through NLPA from inmates exploring post-conviction relief. In most instances, they have contacted NLPA to determine whether there are any possible issues in their cases that they might use to reduce their sentences or obtain new trials. In my experience, NLPA does a thorough job of reviewing transcripts and other documents in search of good post-conviction issues.

If you need any additional infornation, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Very truly yours,

Michael V. Gilberti
